I watched in disbelief,
Beheld the horror of a crumbling reality.
The world I thought I knew dissolving before my eyes
And leaving nothing but confusion to fill the void
The day the scales fell from my eyes
The veil was ripped away

I watched them shed their skin,
Become the instruments of vile and malicious men.
And far too easily they gave up integrity.
The pain of vision and unblemished reality.
The scales have fallen from my eyes.

And now the world that I inhabited is some forgotten dream
And now the faces of my friends are warped and unrecognized by me
There was a separation made between the sighted and the blind
We have been marked forever by the things we witnessed on that day

If you had seen what I have seen,
You would be terrified to sleep
If you had seen what I have seen,
It would deprive you of your peace.

We have been marked, the threshold was crossed
There can be no return to ignorance
Our integrity lost, our naivete gone,
What we wouldn’t give to get it back

I watched them abdicate,
Abandon dignity for lies and conformity,
Abandon all pretense to value autonomy
The lines were drawn and there were choices made on that day
That now forever haunt my mind

Quite possibly the most full-on album I've ever listened to. Intense, and then some. 'Digital Tarpit' could describe both the track and the whole album: high-pitched guitar squeals that make your fillings itch coupled with merciless, suffocating heaviness.
